Lacanau - Great Beach for Surfers

Lovely Sandy Beach

I have just visited Lacanau beach for the second time and I think it’s great, even if you are not a surfer. I went with my kids and my husband and we all had a great time just jumping in to the waves. My little boy Sacha wore his wings and a swimming belt and even he really enjoyed the waves. He did get ducked a couple of times. That day we visited the waves were really high, but then that might be normal as I don’t get there much.

We took a picnic, but they are plenty of Restaurants to visit.

It’s lovely to take a little stroll after the beach as they have some great shops. (That’s for you Ladies!!)
If you are a surfer then I think that this beach is a must!!!

For the last 20 years Lacanau has organized a stop of the world surfing championship and wave skiing competitions. Lacanau Ocean is the Medoc balcony on the Atlantic Coast and it has 14 kilometres of fine golden sand to offer. It's a charming seaside resort that has preserved its environment, as nature is generous and omnipresent.


Now if you are not a beach type, you will find plenty of other activities to do.

They are 3 Golf courses where you could spend the afternoon, or maybe you would like to do some riding, as you will find 2 equestrian clubs where would be able to ride.

For those who like Paintball, there is a place close to the north beach which is open from April to September.
So, there you go, you can make it a great day out and find something to do for the whole family.

And once you feel tired, come back to the tranquility of Poullignac and maybe ‘La Petite Maison’.

Whichever beach you might chose have some fun and remember - it’s your holiday....
