Christmas Markets 2010 in the South-West-France
The Christmas Market season has started!
I really like this time of year when everything is getting festive and all the
are putting their Christmas decorations up.
It gives a complete different flavour to the
as normally everybody thinks of sunshine and not really cold weather.
And really it is different as you see hardly any Tourists, which is a real shame as they are still lots of
things to do
this time of year.
But should you be around let me tell you about some of the lovely
you could go and visit.
Angouleme's Market is not just on a weekend, but it lasts for nearly 3 weeks.
It starts on the 11th December and goes through to the 31st December 2010.
This is one of the biggest Markets around here and apart from lots of stalls you will find entertainement for the children as well.
I will take my camera and post some pictures once I have been, so it will give you an idea what it is like.
You might prefer one of the Markets that are happening in the smaller Villages.
But be careful, don't visit the real small villages as you could be in for a dissapointment. I am talking out of experience!!!!!!!
You get all excited to go to a Market and when you arrive you find a Salle des Fetes with maybe 5 stands - very dissapointing.
So, just keep that in mind and choose carefully.
To make it a bit easier for you to choose I have come up with a list of the ones I would go and visit.
So far I have only been to one and that is where the photos are from. It was at a Golf Course in Pillac.
Here are some more:
which is being held in a big Sportshall and I always go to that one.
It's on Sunday 12th December from 9 o'clock to about 5 o'clock.
Brie, which I have not been to, but will try this year as it is on over 2 days.It starts on Saturday the 11th December from 10 o'clock to 11 o'clock in the evening and on Sunday from 10 o'clock to 7 o'clock. There you will not only find stalls, but also childrens entertainements, there will be places to eat and lots of different artisans.
Another good one is in
as this one is on from the 11th December to the 24th December. It starts every morning from 10 o'clock until 7 o'clock.
is a very small one but it's well worth going there. It's held on Saturday the 18th December in the Perroquet Vert, which you find in the square by the Fountain.
It starts about 10 o'clock and Father Christmas will drop in to meet the Children.
These are all the Christmas Markets I would recommend, but that does not mean the others are not nice.
I just have not been to all of them.
How about yourself? Have you seen any amazingly decorated trees? Share your story with us, I certainly would like to know about it.
Just fill out the short from below and I would like to thank you already for your story.
All that I can say now is, enjoy your browse at all the Christmas Markets and have some fun!!!!!
